West Acres Church of the Nazarene’s (formerly Radcliffe Heights Church of the Nazarene) earliest beginning began September 1937, on Maeder Avenue in a tent revival. On February 17, 1944, a community church was organized as Faith Chapel. Rev. C. B. Raisch served as pastor from the founding until October 1951. On October 28, 1951, Rev. James (Jimmy) Hillman, in the absence of Dr. Albey, District Superintendent, organized “Faith Chapel” as Radcliffe Heights Church of the Nazarene located at 308 Maeder Avenue, Trotwood, Ohio. It is interesting to note that Rev. James Hillman was the boyhood pastor of our current pastor, Rev. Larry McIntosh. He was the first pastor that Pastor Larry remembers. In 1965, a building program began with the purchase of property located at 6199 Hoover Avenue. By June 25, 1965, the first worship service was held in the new lower level in the Educational Sanctuary. The church’s name was changed to West Acres Church of the Nazarene on July 12, 1965. A dedication of the building was held on December 5, 1965 when the upper level was completed. Over the past 72 years, the church has been served by 16 pastors. Since September 2018, Rev. Larry McIntosh, Senior Pastor, and his wife, Dr. Jeanne McIntosh, Associate Pastor, has been leading a revitalization of the church.
